Our history with harmful algal bloom testing goes back over 10 years to a USA-Ireland partnership funded by the US National Science Foundation (NSF). We have maintained active collaborations with teams from NOAA-Charleston led by Greg Doucette, as well as groups from Queen’s University Belfast (Drs. Katrina Campbell and Chris Elliott) and Dublin City University (Drs. Caroline Murphy and Richard O’Kennedy). A subsequent NSF award expanded the collaboration to include the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI). These teams have continued to work together to advance the science of HAB detection and monitoring.
